對某特定事感到羞愧時,ashamed之後需加介系詞of。但如說He is ashamed則表示他對所做之某事感到不好意思、罪惡,或羞於其外表。
The preposition "of" is needed to introduce any object (in this case, "nothing"). When someone is ashamed, they feel embarrassed or guilty because of something they do or have done, or because of their appearance. Therfore it is possible to say, "He is ashamed".
