a story of...其後所接的是指故事的情節；a story with... 其後所接的是指故事中的角色；而表示一書的冊數時應用a story in...，因in X volumes是固定的表達方式。

"A story of..." refers to the plot of the story, e.g. "This is the story of a young man who likes adventure". "A story with" refers to the characters in the story, e.g. "This is story with many interesting characters in it". "A story in..." refers to the book(s) that contain(s) the story. "In X volumes" usually refer to a series of book, e.g. "It's a bargain：an encyclopedia in 15 volumes"!
